We had a lovely start to our year.
Now we’re into a bit of rain,
but we are excited for another great summer at the beach in the park
at the Rose Garden Cafe!
Our hours currently are 11 to 6 ish!
What that means is that if you are in the park, we are in the kitchen.
Our hours always expand on both ends as the summer progresses.
Phone us always to let us know if you are coming
and arriving close to our closing time.

We are very, very excited about our new smoothies.
Our Green Protein Smoothie is made from spinach, swiss chard, kale, parsley,
cilantro, cucumber, celery, ginger, apple juice and a scoop of protein powder.
It is light and smooth and oh so good for you.
Our Fresh Fruit Smoothie is made from strawberries, peaches,
bananas, pineapples and cranberry juice.
It is creamy and delicious and you can add protein powder
to give it that little something extra.
Our Green Tea Fruit Smoothies is our icy choice.
You choose two fruits from strawberry, mango or mixed berry
and we mix it all together and you
have a delightfully refreshing icy green tea fruit smoothie.

It’s a wonderful experience to feel like we’re “opening the cottage by the lake for the summer.”

Wow, it doesn’t seem so long ago, that we were just opening.
Yet here we are approaching the last weekend of summer–
Labour Day weekend.
And, as usual, it sure has been a labour of love–
a natural labour, a good and productive labour….
a labour that invites craft and turns it into art.
And as St. Francis of Assisi delightfully spoke and now paraphrased:
“A person who uses their hands is a labourer. Those who use their hands and their mind
are craftspeople. And those who use their hands, mind and their heart are artists”
We hope you enjoyed our artistry!
The countdown is on…..seven days to closing for the season.
The Rose Garden Summer Cafe will close its doors to Autumn.
And hopefully an Indian Summer of sorts….
I wonder why it’s called Indian Summer…..

This year we felt the summer in our cafe and the beach in our environment
in fun new ways!
We realized we were the summer cafe in Lakeside Park and Nelson’s beach cafe….
And it was wonderful to feel the levity and lightness in beachiness,
and picnics and parks and flowers and fancifulness.

new faces and delightful team members on our staff
and a brushstroke of renewed, colourful imaginations
of bicycles, baskets and roses….like a heart full of happiness.
It was a year of enjoying creating new ads
to express our presence and intentions….
floral, vintage, summery fare.
Seven days……to folding the tableclothes one last evening.
Closing the umbrellas,
bringing in the bicycles with baskets of flowers,
cleaning the grills and dishes and smoothie machines….

in her full floral attire, with smiling staff, and in-love owners…..

Every summer has its unique signature.
This summer started with the floods.
And then when the water finally subsided,
we had several heat waves….
lovely waves of warmth and sun light,
which brought beach time and swimming,
sailing and boating,
picnics and friends,
summer family times.
And now the weather is changing again and again and again,
and summer looks like it is starting its slow winding down.
And yet, today, she has reappeared and will be shining 30+.
Tomorrow she will be revealing her warm light-filled beauty,
and her gifts of outdoor living will be continued.
